Rebellion bites back! TLC BIble reading today is 1 Samuel 20. Saul and Jonathon had different hearts. Saul resisted God's will and had rebellion in his heart. Jonathon embraced God's will and had love in his heart. Saul was crazy enough to think he could fight against God and win. Jonathon was smart enough to work with God and knew that would be best for everyone. Sauls anger and fear got so bad he was cursing at Jonathon, calling his mother nasty names, and even tried to kill Jonathon with a spear. When we are at odds with God and fighting His will no one is safe; our character and rational thinking gets compromised and every evil thing sounds like a good idea. Sometimes it is very hard but obedience and submission to God's will will always make life better in the long run. Saul refused to listen to his son's sound advice. Who is trying to help you that you aren’t listening to right now? Listen to wise and godly people before rebellion eats you up! ... See more
TLC BIble reading today is 1 Samuel 19. Those who fight against God lose. Saul is fighting against God when he is fighting against David. He is determined to sin even though he is being warned by his son Jonathon. Many times in the Bible we are warned to not fight against God and His will. It is useless and hopeless. Yet we can be on the wrong side of this pretty easy if we are not careful. Watch your emotions. You can feel justified in disobedience when your emotions are heavily involved. Take advice from good leaders and friends around you who will tell you the truth and really help you rather than people who have their own emotional reasons to tell you what you want to hear. Some are loyal to you and will support your pain rather then help you make better choices to have a better future. Don’t fight God. Work with Him. You will love the results! ... See more
TLC Bible reading today is 1 Samuel 18. David is doing everything right, with the right heart and motives ... yet Saul hates him and fears him. Jealousy and envy are powerful emotions that can make people do crazy things. Saul counted David as an enemy and became David's enemy. Sometimes we find ourselves loving people who hate us and we can't understand where that hatred and jealousy comes from.
Sometimes we are the one who is messed up and against someone for no good reason. STOP! Saul thought if he got rid of a David the problem would be solved but Saul was the problem ... not David. If you are the problem then work on you. Quit fighting with others!
And sometimes we are the one someone hates or is strongly against for no good reason. David kept loving Saul, serving him and acted wisely in all his ways. When you are being mistreated love them anyway! Serve them more and even better. Bless them in every way you can. You will reap what you sow. Sow the best things into your relationships and your life. ... See more
